When I started this blog back in 2006 I came up with the name "Fish or Cut Bait" thinking it was a cool name that kind of went with the Marlins. I can't remember if I tried to register the URL fishorcutbait.blogspot.com and found that it wasn't available or if I simply registered floridafisfan.blogspot.com before I came up with the name. But today I was considering changing it to the former so I typed that URL out and found that someone had in fact taken it.

The masthead at the top of the blog says:

THE DAILY SAGA OF THE FLORIDA MARLINS -- THEIR LIVES, THEIR LOVES, THEIR INCREDIBLY DUMB DUMBNESS -- BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE MARLINS BEAT WRITER FOR THE INCOMPARABLE ROTOWIRE.COM

The blogger only went by "Erik" and started it in March of 2003 but abandoned it a month later after only a few posts.

The last post includes this gem:

No matter how much they wish it were so, and no matter how big a signing bonus Loria gave him back when he owned the Expos (it's called sunk costs, Jeff, look it up), Justin Wayne just isn't a good prospect. He got another chance to demonstrate that tonight against the D-backs. Not that there's really anyone else in the high minors that it would have been better to call up. Dontrelle Willis is tearing it up at Double-A, but it makes little sense to add him to the 40-man and start his service time clock running just for an emergency start...

Justin Wayne is a distant memory but Dontrelle Willis did in fact come up in May and it wasn't for an emergency start. He went 14-6.

But the kicker was the last line of that last post:

That sound you heard was the bottom falling out of the Marlins playoff hopes.
